when the Book meet the Food

For a change, on Saturday afternoon 21/3/2009, attended meet the author 林金城 session at Popular book fair in Puchong IOI mall, it was co-host by popular Jason Axian 阿贤 from Astro, for those who savour local food, recipe and its' history, this is an eatery book “知食份子尋味地圖” that worth collecting (provided that you know mandarin). At least, his effort to uncover the myth of local food culture is worth supporting. Anyway, with the evolve of civilization, one way to upgrade yourself is to understand what you are eating, otherwise there are little to differentiate your stomach from a dustbin :)... 這年代的人們有的是錢但沒有的是時間和閒情 ... anyhow, I'm looking forward to his second publication on more good food & good stories. Wake up 吧 --- 你的味蕾.

“山因勢而變,水因時而變,人因學而變”

On the same night itself, to test water we followed the recommendation in the book on 'Moonlight Kway Teow', so we chanced upon Restaurant Mei Yen at Paramount Garden. This fry kway teow is cooked ala hokkien style(wet and black) hence it's not typical dry fried, good thing is the chef still insist on using old fashion charcoal fire to fry so you will appreciate the 'wooden' aroma “鑊氣”, true to the author recommendation this indeed tasty, imagine while eating this Malaysia's 月光河 'moon river' at the alley accompany with that oldies song Moon River as background music playing at night ...

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
You dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

... wow 吃起來很有幸福的味道, even picky Singaporean would also say No Horse Run, however taste is a subjective matter, for those who like KL* hokkien mee they should enjoy this(need to emphasize KL* because for Penangite their hokkien me is what I refer as prawn mee here). Tips: For ultimate satisfaction eat while it's still hot. Another of their famous dish we sampled was LaLa soup(minced ginger & garlic) which you can sense combination bit of all 3S(Sweet, Sour, Spice) .
For once when you forget about health this can serve as a good supper venue as they operate till 2am. Hasta la vista, I will come back for their other dishes for sure.

True enough to my word, just like George Washington and the cherry tree I cannot tell a lie, I was back there again within short period of time. Present the additional evidences:
